What is Movie Machine News About?
The new Batcycle. The first Enterprise under construction. The guy who owns the Time Machine. The X-Jet. Robbie the Robot. James Bond’s Aston Martin. Gort from next year’s “Day the Earth Stood Still”. Talos from “Jason and the Argonauts”. The Aeroshuttle, which detached form the bottom of the USS Voyager’s saucer. The wacky submarine/helicopter in “Three Stooges in Orbit”. Terminator T-800. The Nautilus from Disney’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.
That should give you the general idea. I’ve had a life-long love of those incredible, often impossible, machines that play an integral part in many great (and not so great) movies and TV shows. Let’s face it, sometimes the gadgets are the only reason we sit through a film. Then, again, a fascinating machine can infuse even greater value to a great film. I am not limiting the scope of this site by using the term “science fiction”, though most of what you’ll find here falls under that category. Anything on screen that appeals to a gizmo/vehicle geek (like me) can turn up here.
I’d love to post new items on this site every day, but I actually work for a living, so I’ll do the best I can. My first priority will be the latest news (with images, if possible) on machines in new movies, new discoveries about old favorites, and new products for collectors and hobbyists.
I will try to post a few special features, with some themes recurring. Here are a few themes I have in mind:
- Overview of Collectibles, Models and Books - Overview of new releases, eBay items, and things to look for
- New Movies, DVDs and TV Shows - Upcoming and recently released
- News Items & New Products - as news becomes available
- In Depth Doubletakes on Classic Movie Machines
- Personalities - Collectors, model builders, special effects experts, actors, directors, writers and characters
- Fantastic Lists, Reader Contributions, The Wildest, The weirdest, The Biggest…
(Format note: This site is my initial experiment with WordPress, so accept my apologies for any rough places. I’m working on the)
